Teen Number Activities

Hi Friends!!!

I'm not sure if anyone is out there (considering it's been two years since I've posted) but here goes nothing.....I've missed blogging and sharing ideas with you and it feels good to get back into it. I've slowly been revising a TON of my old products and I wanted to share one in particular with you before the price goes up.

Teen numbers have always been so difficult for my little ones to grasp. Children need numerous opportunities to learn these numbers with visuals and manipulatives. I've included numbers 10 and 20 although they aren't "teen" numbers, only because I teach my students that teen numbers are ALL the numbers BETWEEN 10 and 20. By adding these two numbers it helps them identify a "starting" and an "ending" point so to speak.

I kinda went crazy I know! What was supposed to be a quick revision of the product turned into a complete overhaul of the file.

November Math Printable Pack

Yikes! I'm late to the party once again. I've seen so many Christmas items being posted on TpT and here I am just posting my November Printables…. sigh.

Cypher Kids Club 3D Number App

I found this set of cards on sale at Target and I immediately knew it was something I wanted to use in my classroom. It is from Cypher Kids Club. It's a set of interactive number cards used to help students identify numbers. 

 

A simple, fun and interactive way to teach my little ones numbers- what more could I ask for? 

The app is free but the cards are needed for it to work. Target only had the numbers set but I saw an alphabet and an animal set available online.

 

After you download and open the app, all you have to do is take a "picture" of the card and the numbers pop up in 3D. My kids totally ate this up today. Each one has a little chant which they loved. They really enjoyed this activity.

Halloween Math Journal Prompts & a SALE!

It's been two weeks since my last post...GASP! I've been up to my neck in assessment. Formative, Summative, Dibels, Reading Diagnostic, Math Diagnostic, not to mention....REPORT CARDS are due in a week! SIGH. Sometimes I wonder when I get to just TEACH!

Anyhow, my students have been enjoying our daily math journal prompts and I finally put it all together to offer it to you in my TPT and TN stores. Our Math program consists of really short, repetitious lessons. A little too repetitive (we've been reviewing number #4 for three weeks now..I know!) so I constantly supplement our math program with daily math journals and other great things I find from you my fabulous friends! I've also slowly introduced literacy journals which I'll share soon in another post. 

Math Journals are a great way to reinforce skills while meeting the standards at the same time. I enjoy using them because they provide me with a quick and easy way to assess student understanding of content area. They also provide a way of keeping documentation and accountability of student work.

Something for my 3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade Friends...

I teach an intermediate combo class of 3rd and 4th graders during our after school program and I recently made these math journal prompts to help some of my kids who are still struggling with multiplication and division. I enjoy using these prompts because they are quick and easy to incorporate throughout the day- there is not a lot of prep needed. I encourage students to use words and pictures to show their thinking and verbalize how they got their answer.

Math Journals are a great way to reinforce skills while meeting the standards at the same time. I enjoy using math journals in my class because they provide me with a quick and easy way to informally assess student understanding of specific skills. Math journals are also a way of keeping documentation and accountability of student work all together in one place.

You can choose to do a prompt each day for added practice. This pack is differentiated so not all the kids will be on the same prompt a the same time, unless desired. There are 30 prompts in all.

Let's Graph! Free Printables!

I introduce graphing to my students early on in the year just to get them familiarized with the concept. I start with simple graphs and extend them throughout the year. I created this packet to send home as homework for added practice, but you can use them as morning work, or place them in your math centers or tubs. I hope it's something you can use in your class.
